The full background on this bike is over on ADV Rider as "2016 1190 ADV R Resurrection 'The Mad Bomber'"
BUT, in summary: I bought this bike non-running about 2 months ago. It has ~3,500 miles on it. Previous owner installed: full Wings catless exhaust (O2 sensors removed), Rottweiler SAS removal (stage 2), Rottweiler intake, fueling dongles, Power Commander 6 (with incorrect tune), new fuel pump/filter. (There was some obvious dust ingestion prior to the addition of the mods -- I think the PO saw it was running badly after the dust and just started throwing parts at it.)
What I've done since: I tried to adjust valves and realized one intake valve on each head was stretched .5mm and would not shim. I replaced the two out-of-spec valves and put everything back together with new spark plugs. I also went through the bike and cleaned/greased electrical connections and made sure all aftermarket accessories were installed correctly. I got a new fueling map from Rottweiler to account for the installed mods. Once back together It started up and idled just fine. I hopped on to take a test ride and at any rev range above idle it stutters/stumbles/hesitates badly. I checked the whole rev range up to 8K and it never quieted or smoothed out.
I brought it back into the garage and checked the throttle body boots to eliminate vacuum leaks. I also uninstalled the PC6 to see if that was the problem. After that, it still ran exactly the same. So I re-installed the PC6 and double-checked the map -- still ran the same.
Any insights you could offer would be great. I'd prefer at-home solutions if possible -- the nearest KTM dealer is about a 4-hour drive away.
